MORE THAN 800 people who have tested positive for coronavirus have been confirmed to have died in the last 24 hours.

828 deaths were reported in England's hospitals - with eight of those in Hampshire.

There were five deaths in University of Southampton hospitals and three at Portsmouth Hospitals, bringing the total to 35 and 80 respectively.

No new deaths were reported at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who run Basingstoke, Andover and Winchester hospitals.

The total there stands at 41.

It means the total in Hampshire is 156.

However, 27 new deaths were recorded at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, who run Frimley Park Hospital in Farnborough as well as hospitals in Ascot and Slough.

The total there is now 109.

Six deaths occured on April 3, five on April 4, seven on April 5 and four on April 6.

The total death toll in England's hospitals is now 6,483.

Of the 828 newly reported deaths, patients were aged between 22 and 103. 46 of the 828 patients, aged between 35 and 96, did not have known underlying health conditions.
