During the pandemic, Waitrose wine tasting at home experience went digital – but is now set to return once again.

During the experience, guests will have the opportunity to discover the fundamentals of wine tasting among friends and family from the comfort of their own home.

Six bottles are delivered prior to the tasting where a wine expert will be on hand, in person, to guide guests through each wine, while also providing guidance on food and wine pairings. They will also host a question and answer session at the end.

Andrew Riding, drinks experiences manager at Waitrose, said: “We know how much our customers enjoyed our drinks experiences, from gin and cocktails to wine tasting, which is why it was important to us to be able to continue these virtually over the past two years.

“But now in-person tastings are back and we are delighted to bring these experiences to people in their own homes. It’s also a great way to reconnect teams at work as we return to the office once again.

“To support with demand, we’ve trained up nearly 50 Waitrose Partners by supporting them through their Level 2 Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications so our customers know that the experience will be first class every time.”

The service has been offered virtually since Covid-19 put paid to social gatherings but due to their popularity they are set to continue as an option if you are unable to get together in person. Although online, these sessions are private, hosting just one group of friends per event.
