A gunman has opened fire on a University in Oxford’s twin city of Perm, Russia.

Distressing video footage has emerged on Twitter showing students and teachers jumping from university building windows in an attempt to escape.

Shots can be heard in the background as students and teachers throw themselves from the window, with many seemingly hurting themselves as they land on concrete.

Further footage has appeared on Twitter, seemingly capturing the shooter walking into the university campus with a weapon in his hands.

This comes as the BBC has reported more than 20 people have been injured, and six have been killed.

The incident occurred at Perm State University, a city which has been twinned with Oxford since 1995.
