A convicted drug dealer has gone on the run after being arrested for breaching an order designed to keep him away from a life of crime.

Khaliq Ur Rehman, 47, was detained by National Crime Agency (NCA) investigators on September 17 after suspicions were raised that he had not revealed all his phone numbers and email addresses as required.

He was released under investigation and has not been seen since, sparking an NCA appeal to the public for help in tracking down the drugs trafficker.

He is described as Asian, has short, dark hair and is stocky, and has connections to the Alum Rock and Erdington parts of Birmingham.

Mick Pope, operations manager at the NCA, said: “Khaliq Ur Rehman is a career criminal who we believe is still involved in serious and organised crime.

“We need your help to recall him to prison. If you know of Rehman’s whereabouts or have any information that can help us find him, don’t hesitate to pick up the phone to report your suspicions.

“Anyone helping Rehman or frustrating law enforcement efforts to locate him could find themselves being arrested.”

Rehman, of Highfield Road, Birmingham, was jailed for 16 years in September 2011 over his part in a plan to smuggle 100kg of cocaine from Turkey to the UK.

Released on licence in 2018 after serving half his sentence, he was placed under a Serious Crime Prevention Order, that included conditions that he must give details of his finances, cars, phone numbers and email addresses to law enforcement.

NCA investigations found that he had kept certain mobile phone numbers and email addresses secret, leading to his arrest.

He had previously been jailed for drug dealing in 2002, when he was sentenced to 12 years.

Anyone with information on Rehman’s whereabouts can contact the National Crime Agency on 0370 496 7622 or to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.
