THE streets of Burton were awash with colour and creative flare as the local Scout group’s annual carnival parade snaked by.
The procession headed towards the recreation ground on July 3, 1999, from Martins Hill Lane.
Carnival princess Sarah Edwards was crowned by retiring Burton Primary School teacher Dot Newton after they arrived at their final destination
Christchurch Scout band led the procession, which included Yankee doodle dandies, millennium bugs, cartoon characters and dancers.
The event was organised by the 8th Christchurch Scout Group, while Guides, Brownies, Rainbows, and members of the village playgroup joined in the fun.
Carnival attractions included Ivo the clown, Ringwood and Burley Band, vintage cars and motorcycles and bellydancers.
