AROUND 100 pupils from seven different Bournemouth schools attended a three-evening open day at the town's Abbey National branch where they taught the youngsters about the benefits of saving.
Those in attendance were given an in-depth look into building society business, had their questions answered by staff, and were shown the branch's terminal machine in operation.
The venture was deemed a success by the branch manager, John Cumming.
"We were well pleased with the way the evenings went and we certainly learnt a bit about running this sort of thing for the future," said m,r Cumming.
"We were trying to show the students not only how we, as a building society, work, but also how crucial it is for them to start saving."
