CHILDMINDERS and early years childcare groups in Poole have been rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Some 148 early years providers operating in the borough have undergone inspections to evaluate their overall quality and standards.

Good and outstanding judgements require providers to show that they deliver a high standard of teaching, effective safeguarding and ensure that all children feel safe and happy.

Cllr Mike White, cabinet portfolio holder for children, young people and learning, said: “Early years child care helps to prepare children for school while also providing valuable support for working parents.

“The dedication of Poole providers and their commitment to giving high quality care and early education to our youngest children is commendable and we thank them sincerely for the difference they make to each and every child in their care.”

In addition to the 148 early years providers assessed by Ofsted in 2017, a further 27 newly registered childcare groups and childminders in Poole are awaiting their first inspection.

The Poole Family Information Directory (FID) can provide help and support to families looking for suitable child care in the town, along with providing one-to-one assistance.
