Two bus shelters in Ringwood have been upgraded to offer residents improved comfort and accessibility.
Hampshire County Council’s Parish Council announced improvements made to stops at North Poulner Road and, Eastfield Lane in Ringwood were made possible through its Bus Shelter Grant Scheme, which provided funding to Ringwood Town Council for work at the two locations.
Councillor Glenys Turner, who supported the project, said: "Good quality bus shelters and seating can greatly improve the experience of using public transport.
"I am pleased that these improvements will provide passengers with greater comfort and protection from the elements, while also responding directly to feedback from local residents."
At North Poulner Road, a brick-built shelter received a new roof, renewed fascia boards and a newly constructed bench.
The upgrades are said to ensure the shelters remain weatherproof and functional for years to come.
On Eastfield Lane, a bench was installed on the grass verge behind the shelter after a request from a regular passenger.
Due to the cantilever design of the shelter, fitting a bench inside was not feasible.
The new seating provides a comfortable option for those waiting for the bus.
Ringwood Town Council extended its thanks to Hampshire County Council for its support through the grant scheme.
