The warning says: "Areas of persistent and sometimes heavy rain may lead to localised flooding and travel disruption.

"Spray and flooding will lead to difficult driving conditions and perhaps some road closures.

"Where flooding occurs, there may be delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

"There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater."

A Met Office spokesperson said: "We've got a weather warning valid from 1400 hours tomorrow, Sunday.

"During the course of the afternoon we can expect heavy rains pushing northwards, mainly affecting the Cornwall areas at first but pushing through as the day moves on.

"By mid-afternoon we can expect to see heavy outbreaks across the Dorset region and there are risks of heavy falls in that band.

"We can expect surface water on roads and potentially 20 to 40mm of rain is isolated spots more northwards."
