LAST weekend thousands of people flocked to Dorset’s beaches to enjoy the hot and sunny weather.
Temperatures reached the mid to high 20s but are we set to see the same again this weekend?
The sun may be taking a bit of a break, but the weekend doesn’t look too bad if you’re planning to get out and about.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms currently remains in place until 6am on Saturday.
The Met Office says: “A spell of quite prolonged and often heavy rain is expected to spread northwards into parts of England on Friday though there remains uncertainty in how far northwest this progresses. This area of rain then clears away northeast on Saturday morning.”
Today the Met Office predicts heavy rain for much of the day but thankfully things are looking drier and sunnier for the weekend.
Here’s the Met Office forecast for Saturday and Sunday:
Saturday
7am – cloudy, 12C
10am – cloudy, 17C
1pm – cloudy, 18C
4pm – cloudy, 17C
7pm – sunny intervals, 17C
10pm – 40 per cent chance of light showers, 15C
Sunday
7am – 50 per cent chance of light showers, 14C
10am – cloudy, 16C
1pm – sunny intervals, 17C
4pm – sunny intervals, 18C
7pm – sunny intervals, 17C
10pm – partly cloudy, 15C
Looking ahead to next week, the Met Office says: “Unsettled conditions are likely to continue at the start of this period, with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered heavy showers, and a risk of thunder and perhaps hail. Longer spells of rain are also possible in the north and west.
“Atlantic air then looks likely to spread across the country from the west through the week, bringing a change to cooler and more changeable conditions. This will likely bring spells of rain or showers interspersed with periods of dry weather and sunny spells.
“The driest and brightest conditions are likely in the southeast, though further showers or thunderstorms are possible here. Temperatures are likely to recover to near normal by the end of the month.”
