POLICE have warned of a scam which involves males stopping local female drivers claiming they had hit their wing mirror and pressuring them into paying for repairs.
Poole Police urged people to use their horn if they feel threatened and dial 999 if they can safely do so.
A spokesperson said: “There have been a couple of reports locally where lone female drivers have been indicated to stop by a male who alleged they had hit his car wing mirror, when this clearly has not occurred.
“Some have felt pressurised into paying monies to this male for the 'repairs' to his car wing mirror. This is a scam.
“In the unlikely event that this should happen to you, record or photograph the vehicle details, and report it to us.
“If you feel threatened, use your horn to attract attention from others, or dial 999 if you can safely do so.
“Please remain alert, not alarmed, and report any suspicious incidents to us online or via the 101 number.
“Our enquiries continue, and any information you provide might just be the missing piece of evidence we need.”
