TV personalities descended on Bournemouth Pier on Wednesday afternoon to take on the coastal zip wire for charity - but it proved to frightening for some.
Sandra Martin from Channel 4’s Gogglebox, led the group to the top of the 25 metre high tower before saying that she was too scared to take on the challenge.
The group were raising funds for Entertainment Workshops, an East Sussex charity that helps children pursue alternative media-based education up to BTEC level.
Speaking at the event, CEO David Byrne said: “I wanted to do something for disadvantaged kids who are falling through the cracks of the education system.
“It’s about raising awareness how desperate the UK is for alternative education.”
Also taking to the 250 metre long zip wire was Paul Bohill, from Channel 5’s ‘Can’t Pay? We’ll Take it Away!’and Samantha Bumford, current Miss Dorset.
Organiser Brett McLean said: “The zip wire was a great challenge – I can’t swim and don’t like heights but I managed it.”
Speaking before climbing the tower, Sandra told the Echo that she was “nervous, trembling and excited”.
With her feet back on solid ground, she said: “I tried but the fright got to me – I struggle with heights.”
