A PUB in Bournemouth that offers guest accommodation has been sold for more than £1.8m.

The Hop Inn on West Cliff Road and neighbouring former sports pub, The Shamrock Bar in St Michael’s Road, have been purchased for £1.825m.

The Victorian property comprises of 12 en-suite rooms, a bar, restaurant and fish and chip shop.

It is thought The Shamrock Bar has been closed since 2015.

Asit and Amika Patel have been named as the new owners.

It is understood Mr and Mrs Patel have a "wealth of knowledge and experience in the pub sector" and plan to continue running The Hop Inn as a pub.

The previous owner, Phil Audrain, is set to retire.

The sale was carried out by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Richard Wood, business agent at the Christie & Co in Winchester who handled the sale, said: "They plan to run it in the same vein as it is such a tremendous business."

“I am delighted to have been part of a sale of such a high-profile business within Bournemouth following a labour intensive and technical deal.

“I wish both parties all the best for the future, in particular the previous owner, Phil Audrain who is now looking forward to a well-deserved retirement.”

He added: “The market in Bournemouth continues to remain robust as we see a number of select buyers searching in the area and anticipate this continuing well into 2018.”

According to website, The Hop Inn provides "12 stylish rooms finished to a contemporary style. All the rooms have tea, coffee and 32inch flat screen TVs".
