TWO people - neither of whom have driving licences - were spotted at the wheel of a car on Tuesday.

Police first spotted a woman driving in Melbury Abbas, North Dorset, at 10am. The woman, who was known to officers, has no licence, and as a result wasn't insured to drive the car.

The officers were unable to stop the car.

However, they tracked the vehicle with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) and it was stopped in Bournemouth at 11.20am by the No Excuses team.

When the car was stopped, the woman was in the passenger seat and her partner was driving. Officers knew the man had been disqualified from driving.

He initially tried to run away, but was quickly detained, police say.

A man and a woman are now helping police with their enquiries, and the vehicle has been seized.
