A MAN was attacked with a hammer during a robbery in Boscombe last night.

Armed police were called to Campbell Road after the incident at 9.05pm, and an investigation has been launched.

The man and a woman, both in their 20s, had been sat in a car when they were approached by a group of men.

The man was then assaulted with the weapon. He suffered injuries to his head and hand, and was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be serious.

The woman was uninjured.

A third victim - a woman in her 50s who was not in the car but is known to the victims - was also assaulted. She suffered injuries to her back, but did not need hospital treatment.

A mobile phone was stolen during the incident.

Two Bournemouth men, aged 22 and 28, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery and are currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
