A CONVICTED murderer who has escaped from prison could be in Dorset, police say.

Nicholas Redding, 45, absconded from HMP Spring Hill in Buckinghamshire on November 19.

Thames Valley Police officers, who are appealing for the public’s help to trace him, say he has links to Dorset, Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset.

Redding is described as white, 6ft tall, slim build, with dark brown hair and has hazel eyes. He is blind in his right eye which appears to be opaque. He has a West Country accent.

The public are advised not to approach him but to call 999 if seen.

Redding is serving a life sentence for the murder of supermarket worker Michael Fry in Yeovil. The murder took place in 1994.

Redding, then aged 27, bound his 44-year-old neighbour to a chair with tape and string and struck him in the head with a hammer.

He denied murder but was convicted following a trial.
