PUPILS in Bournemouth were given the chance to “rule the school”.

St Michael’s CE Primary encouraged children to consider their future careers as part of a themed fortnight on the topic When I Grow Up.

They were invited to write their own CVs to apply for the position of class teacher, deputy head and head teacher, with the successful candidate running the school for a day.

Head teacher Bob Kennedy said: “Having watched Ms Peters run a staff meeting before the start of the school day I think I have learnt a thing or two on how to manage teachers.”

The fortnight’s events involved visiting local businesses and inviting guest speakers to discuss their work.

The event culminated in a jobs fair where parents, businesses, colleges and community groups organised stalls so pupils could find out about the workplace.

The school thanked all those who gave up their time to help.
