JUDITH Potts, headteacher of Highcliffe School , said: “We’re very disappointed that the clear safeguarding and child protection procedures that the school adheres to were disregarded by Mr Gutteridge.
“Mr Gutteridge regrettably chose not to follow the clear guidelines and procedures, which have always been in place at Highcliffe School. He has been sentenced for his conduct.
“Mr Gutteridge terminated his employment in August 2007 and has had no further involvement with the school.
“The professional conduct of all colleagues and the safeguarding of all the students in our care remain and will remain the utmost priority for Highcliffe School.
“Staff have regular training in safeguarding and child protection procedures and this has a high priority in our weekly staff bulletins and training.”
