BIKER David Exley is revving up awareness for the Samaritans’ 24-hour support service by visiting each of the 201 branches in seven weeks on his motorcycle.

The 64-year-old, who is riding in memory of his brother Tim and son James, who both died by suicide, kick-started his 6,000-mile tour on Monday at Worthing Samaritans where he is a volunteer.

He arrived in Bournemouth just before noon on Wednesday where he was greeted by branch patron Dr Andrew Mayers and some of the volunteers.

“My younger brother Tim took his own life 24 years ago and tragically in 2007 my son James also ended his life,” he said.

“I really hope that my challenge will mean that more people will be aware of the support Samaritans offer.

“That way some good can come out of what has been a very difficult time for me and my family.”

David’s final pit stop will be Cardiff on August 20.
