THE jury in the Emily Longley murder trial have been sent home for the weekend.
The panel of 11 men and one woman were sent out to begin their deliberations at 10.45am today after hearing 19 days of evidence and summing up in court two at Winchester Crown Court.
The Honourable Mrs Justice Dobbs told them: "You must reach a unanimous verdict.” She said she would tell them in due course if, or when, she would take a majority verdict.
The judge called the jury back into court at 1.45pm and sent them home, asking them to return to court on Monday to continue their deliberations.
Elliot Turner is accused of strangling 17-year-old aspiring model Emily in the bedroom of his family home in Queenswood Avenue in Queens Park, Bournemouth, on May 7 last year.
He denies murdering his girlfriend.
Elliot’s parents Leigh Turner, 54, and Anita Turner, 51, are accused of perverting the course of justice by removing a jacket from Elliot’s bedroom and destroying a note written by Elliot. They also deny the charge. The trial continues.
