CHILDREN will be able to try out go-karting and raise money for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust with a special event.

Dorset company Go-Kart Party will be holding a day for children aged between four and ten years old to try out indoor go-karting at Redlands Community Sports Hub in Weymouth tomorrow, Thursday February 16.

Each hour-long activity session costs £7.50 and all the proceeds from the day will go to Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Manager of Go-Kart Party James Brinton said he hoped the event would raise lots of money for the charity.

He said: “I have done fund raising for them in the past and I think it’s a very worthwhile charity.

“It’s a strong local charity to be involved with and I wanted to continue to support them with the company I'm running now. I think it’s good to link with a local charity.”

He added: “It's something new and different to do on the area. It will showcase what we do.

“It's a great opportunity to come along and try it out. We are giving 100 per cent of the proceeds to the charity.”

Mr Brinton thanked Redlands Community Sports Hub for donating the hall for free.

There will be three sessions throughout the day of one hour each for 16 children each time and booking is essential.

Weldmar community fundraiser Matt Smith said that it was a charity event that hadn’t been done in the area before.

He said: “It's a fantastic and different event. It's something that hasn't been done before for us. It should be fun for all the children and raise lots of money for the charity. I’m sure it will be a brilliant event.

“Mr Brinton has been very supportive and is donating everything he makes on the day to us.”
