TWO emaciated lurcher dogs are recovering at a Margaret Green Animal Rescue centre, after they were discovered in a “terrible condition” abandoned in the Dorset countryside.

The animals, dubbed Ginny and Hermi-one by staff at the Lincoln Farm re-homing centre, near Winterborne Kingston, were starving, with severe mange, crusty lesions and alopeica over their bodies.

They had to be treated immediately for a bacterial infection.

Lincoln Farm manager Claire Ross said: “We treated them for mange as soon as they came in and this will need repeating in two weeks.

“They are both currently on a two-week course of antibiotics – they are also receiving medicated baths every day to help their skin.”

Claire thinks the pair will make great companions once they have recovered.

“They are both incredibly friendly, trusting girls, despite their obvious ill-treatment in the past.

“They live to be cuddled and will try to climb on your lap. They will soon be well enough to go to new homes.”
