Bournemouth Council’s Conservative group has chosen Cllr John Beesley as its new leader.
The council’s acting leader was nominated by several group members. No other nominations were received.
It is expected that Cllr Beesley will be elected as the new council leader at a Town Hall meeting next Tuesday (Feb 21).
The special Conservative group meeting was called after Cllr Peter Charon lost a vote of no confidence proposed by his colleagues and was forced to resign as council leader and Conservative group leader.
