REASSURANCE has been issued to people in Highcliffe after a pensioner was robbed of her handbag in her own home.
The 76-year-old woman was at home on Friday when a man walked into her house and took her handbag from her, leaving her with an arm injury.
Police and ambulance were called although no arrests have yet been made.
A Dorset police spokesman said: “We are renewing our appeal for information.
“It was an unusual incident and highly distressing for the victim. It was really shocking for her.
“We appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Bluebell Close area last Friday morning to get in touch and urge anyone who has any information about the man responsible to contact us.”
John Mather, chairman of Highcliffe Residents Association, said: “Highcliffe is a very safe place to live and residents should not be unduly worried because of this.
“Obviously we would advise them to take sensible precautions as I am sure people do.”
Ward councillor Lesley Dedmanm, pictured, added: “I’m very upset for the lady concerned and absolutely amazed something so terrible could happen considering the incredibly low crime figures in the area.”
