AN area of Bournemouth with a significant number of elderly residents is getting a ‘No Cold Calling Zone’.
Signs will warn traders off visiting Dulsie Road, Huntly Road, Keith Road, Carrbridge Road and Carrbridge Close in Talbot Woods. Traders cannot be banned from cold calling.
The zones are a deterrent and people who cold call anyway will be contacted by Trading Standards.
The zone was set up thanks to work by North Bournemouth Crime Prevention Panel.
The panel brings together the police, residents and the council.
Ward councillor Andrew Morgan said: “The police felt that a lot of people calling were ex-offenders who might have been ‘casing’ homes – seeing if there was anything worth coming back for.”
