AWARD-winning wildlife photographer Ben Osborne is bringing his exhibition, highlighting the wonders of Purbeck’s Jurassic Coast, to Langton Matravers.

Ben, voted wildlife photographer of the year in 2007, spent almost two years collaborating on the Jurassic Journey project.

The Shropshire-based photographer, who has worked for the BBC Natural History Unit and alongside legendary naturalist Sir David Attenborough, has coupled photography and film footage for the exhibition.

He said: “I have found the Jurassic Coast to be an inspiring landscape, both scientifically and artistically, and I hope this is reflected in the show.

“The real strength of the project is the collaboration between the four principle artists and I think the show encapsulates the way in which different media can enhance each other and add something which is greater than the sum of the parts.”

Ben spent many a long night on the coast in his camper van, in order to capture the delights of this World Heritage Site.

He worked alongside composer Sammy Hurden, poet Matt Harvey and sculptor Lal Hitchcock.

Ben said: “Although we have now launched the show and it is touring successfully, we are still evolving new ideas and looking for alternative ways in which the images, poetry and sculpture can be used to celebrate this dramatic and important stretch of coast.”

The show comes to Langton Matravers Village Hall on March 12, at 7.30pm.
