THERE must have been no room at the inn when Goldie the cat gave birth to five kittens.
Instead, the tabby found a tiny space in a West Parley garden centre’s roof.
Surprised Golden Acres staff heard cries coming from above their computer room last Friday and found the young clowder (a group of cats or kittens!) and handed them over to the Bournemouth and District branch of Cats Protection.
Now mum Goldie, her three tabbies and two black kittens are being looked after by welfare officer Paula Pelosi until they’re ready for re-homing at 10 weeks old.
Paula said: “Mum and babies are doing absolutely fine.
“They’re all beautiful. Goldie’s a very young mum, but she’s taken to them very well.
“I’ve suggested the Golden Acres staff might like to name the kittens after flowers or plants.
“If a mum needs to find somewhere warm they go into all sorts of places. It’s the first we’ve had in a garden centre roof but Goldie was very sensible.
“She’s a dear sweet little soul and is now eating us out of house and home to feed her litter.”
