HAIRDRESSING students received an inspirational talk and demonstration from the one of the trade’s top stylists.

Patrick Cameron is best known for his skills with long hair and took time out of his busy schedule to officially open Bournemouth and Poole College’s new commercial salon, Flaunt Hair Design.

Patrick has his own training school in London.

He demonstrated a burlesque-themed hair style as well as a Lady Gaga-style bow, making both look easy.

He urged students to focus on all aspects of the trade, including the commercial side.

“Hairdressing is a craft and fashions within the industry can go full circle.

“This is why it’s important for young hairdressers to learn all the skills required, not just what is in fashion right now” said Patrick.

“Commercial skills are also an important aspect of the training, something that the introduction of salons like Flaunt in colleges can only accentuate.”

Hairdressing faculty manager Debi McDermott added: “Patrick has such energy and enthusiasm that it is really inspiring for the students. “We were delighted to welcome him to our college and the students picked up some great techniques in the art of dressing long hair that we will now be practising back in the salons.”
