A man who admitted causing death by dangerous driving has been jailed.
Kyle McClung, 21, of Tan Lane, Gillingham, was sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment and banned from driving for three years for causing the death of 21-year-old David Lewis.
Dorchester Crown Court heard how McClung was driving his Peugeot 306 with Mr Lewis, of Wincanton in Somerset, as a passenger along the B3092 near Gillingham.
Both were seriously injured after the car left the road and hit a tree at around 9.15pm on December 29, 2008.
Mr Lewis died in hospital the next day.
The court heard how the defendant was travelling at speed and lost control of the vehicle.
