AN ELDERLY woman is recovering at home in Sway after being crushed between the door of her Honda Jazz and the bodywork.

The woman, who is 92 years old, was getting into the vehicle outside Sway Newsagency in Station Road when a black Audi A3 was in collision with it just after 4pm on Tuesday.

She was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to cuts to her arm and face and was later allowed home.

The driver of the Audi, a 27-year-old London man, was uninjured. He was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and bailed until November 27.

Meanwhile the 85-year-old Barton-on-Sea pedestrian who suffered life-threatening head injuries when he was in collision with a car at Old Milton on Tuesday morning is said to be in a “stable” condition in Southampton General Hospital.

The man had walked from the care home in Barton Common Road where he lives to the shops at Old Milton and was on his way back when the collision happened.

The driver of the car, a 75-year-old man from Wimborne, was uninjured.

Motorists suffered short delays as police directed them around a small diversion from about 8am until 11am.
