THE national bullion reserves may be depleted but Christchurch and New Milton Seagulls’ coffers runneth over after the club amassed 117 medals in open meets at Millfield and Littledown.

At Millfield, six Seagulls collected 32 medals between them in the Avalon meet. And at Littledown, a tally of 85 medals earned Seagulls the top club trophy in the Bournemouth Level 3 Open Meet.

Ellie Kerslake led the tally at Millfield with seven medals – gold in the 100 and 200m freestyle, 50 and 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly, silver in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 200m individual medley.

Megan Chapman’s eight medals comprised gold in the 50 and 100m breaststroke and 200m medley, silver in the 50m fly and 200m freestyle and bronze in the 50 and 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

Nine-year-old Christian Tai and Darren Price, 14, were also triple gold medallists. Tai came first in the 9yrs 50m backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke, second in the 200m medley and third in the 200m freestyle. Price took gold in the 14yrs 50, 100 and 200m freestyle and silver in the 50 and 100m backstroke.

Hannah Price won at least one medal of each colour – gold in the 11yrs 50m freestyle, silver in the 100m free and bronze in the 200m free and 50m breaststroke.

Alex Field added to the total with silver in the 13yrs 50m freestyle and bronze in the 50m backstroke.

At Littledown, the busy Darren Price led Seagulls’ medal spree with six golds from six events – the 14yrs 50, 100 and 200m freestyle, 50 and 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Megan Chapman also contributed eight medals to the tally, including gold in the 50m breaststroke. Chris Gannaway’s seven medals included gold in the 16yrs 50m breaststroke, 100m fly and 200m medley.

Four golds went to Ben Wickens in the 12yrs 100 and 200m freestyle, 50m fly and 200m breaststroke and three to both George Lee in the 16yrs 50 and 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly, and Hannah Price in the 11yrs 50 and 100m freestyle and 50m back.

Bethany Folland chalked up seven golds to top host club Bournemouth Dolphins’ honours list. She won the 12yrs 50, 100 and 200m freestyle, 50 and 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 200m medley.

Grace Kingsley added five golds to the Dolphins’ chart – in the 10/u 50, 100 and 200m freestyle and 50 and 100m backstroke. Four golds went to Matthew Allen in the 11yrs 50 and 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 200m medley and three each to Matt Folland (10/u 100m freestyle and backstroke and 200m medley) and Jack Simpkins (11yrs 50 and 100m butterfly and 50m breaststroke).

Danielle Burry led Poole’s winnings with six golds. These came in the 14yrs 50, 100 and 200m freestyle, 50 and 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly. Jacob Peters won three golds for Poole in the 10/u 50m backstroke and butterfly and 200m freestyle.

Two golds apiece went to Olivia Stubbington in the 11yrs 50m breaststroke and 100m backstroke and Jessica Richens in the 10/u 50m butterfly and 100m breast.

Phoebe-May Notley was Ferndown Otters’ leading medal-winner with a tally that included gold in the 15yrs 50, 100 and 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke. Fellow Otter Lucy Brain won the 10/u 100m butterfly and 200m medley.

Ten-year-old Seren Banneel flew the flag for North Dorset Turboes on the top step of the podium following victory in the 10/u 100m breaststroke.

All the iindividual “top swim” awards went to swimmers from Newbury.
