JOHN Resch and Danny Warwick were quick to make up after they clashed during the Buccaneers’ reserve’s thrilling last-to-second dash in heat 12 last night.

Bournemouth Castle Cover’s number seven was left behind race leader Karl Mason, former Buccaneer Warwick and his Isle of Wight team-mate Tom Hill after the tapes had gone up.

As Mason stormed ahead to take the chequered flag during another bumper home win for the Dorset side, Resch quickly stormed past Hill into third.

Then the teenager appeared to cleanly dive under Warwick on the second turn of the last lap to join Mason on a Buccaneers 5-1, which took his personal tally to an impressive eight paid 11 from four outings.

But Warwick was not happy about Resch’s dynamic inside swoop, gesturing to referee Dave Robinson with his hand as he crossed the finish line in third.

Resch said: “There was no contact.

"I wouldn't push anyone into the fence. I wouldn’t do it because I wouldn’t want anyone doing it to me.

“I thought there was room to go through on the inside and that’s what I did.”

Resch added: “There’s no problem with Danny. He probably didn’t like being beaten by a number seven.

“Me and Danny are fine. We rode together for Buccaneers last year. He was just a bit upset in the pits when I went to shake his hand after the race.

“After he did well in heat 15, which he won, he came and shook my hand.

“Danny helped me out in the under-21s and he’s a good bloke.

“We all get a bit upset when we’re racing sometimes, but everything is okay between us.”

Warwick, who played a major role for Bournemouth as they swept to a league and cup double last year, top-scored with 14 points for the Islanders.

He said: “John clipped my front wheel as he went past, but as I could see it coming I was able to take avoiding action so I didn’t end up driving into the back of him.

“I get on well with John. I was just a bit annoyed.

“To be fair, I threw the race away in the opening two laps. I was looking for my team-mate, trying to team-ride.

“I should have just gone away on my own because I slowed and by the time I realised Tom had fallen, John was right on me.

“But I don’t have a problem with John. There are no hard feelings and it was a good match.

“The league is very open this year, not like last year when I was riding for Bournemouth and we ran away with it.

“There are four or five teams who can win it, including the likes of Newport and Bournemouth and, hopefully, the Isle of Wight.

“Buccaneers have a very good team at home and if all their riders ride well away, they will have a good team on the road. But no-one is going to run away with the title this time.”
