POOLE-born duo Danny Warwick and Kyle Newman dynamically teamed-up in two barnstorming races as Buccaneers swept to another big victory tonight.

So pleased to be representing a side promoted by their hometown Pirates club, Warwick and Newman were in sensational form against outclassed Cobras.

Warwick, forced to drop down from the Premier League after being cruelly axed by Berwick in May, has blown hot and cold at times since joining Bournemouth in the third-tier.

So much so that he has had to play second fiddle to the other local lad for much of the time while Newman has visibly blossomed in leaps and bounds and stolen the limelight.

But Warwick, who like the younger rider has a big personal following inside Poole Stadium for every home meeting, did his best to gate-crash Newman’s party tonight.

He was lightning out from the tapes as he banged in an impressive 10 paid 12 point maximum, his only gift coming when Rye House’s Rob Smith fell while leading on the third lap in heat nine.

It was the first time Warwick has been unbeaten by the opposition in Buccaneers colours in the league.

He has only scored more once, when he got 12 paid 13 at King’s Lynn in August.

Warwick and Newman first joined forces in race five to grab a 5-1 over Jamie Courtney and Danny Halsey.

Warwick led all the way, but Newman twice passed Courtney on the opening lap to grab second.

It was the same in heat 12 as the devastating Dorset duo banged in another maximum race triumph, with Newman stylishly taking the chequered flag to complete an entertaining 15-point maximum.

Earlier, Newman had produced the highlight, smartly diving inside Rob Smith on the fourth turn before lowering the Rye House star’s colours in heat four.

It capped the teenager’s first full maximum at third-tier level.

Irrepressible Jay Herne was the third Buccaneers rider to get a maximum, while Jerran Hart also impressed with two wins.

Bournemouth, who had already booked their title play-off place, even had the luxury of sending out reserve Aaron Baseby and number eight John Resch for heat 15.

They conceded a 5-1 to Smith and Courtney, but their nominations showed the incredible team spirit within the Buccaneers camp as they remain favourites to lift the title.

Andrew Aldridge, fortunately, survived an ugly heat one fall without injury after Halsey had gone down in front of him, but the luckless Kiwi sustained about £1,000 worth of damage to his main bike.

Halsey withdrew from the meeting injured after pluckily going out twice as five-man Cobras were clearly no match for Bournemouth.

Pirates have confirmed their outstanding Elite League home meeting against Peterborough will be on Monday, September 14.
