The last few months has seen Rolo Tomassi emerge from the hardcore underground in a frenzy of hype.

Tonight, they take in Bournemouth as part of a huge UK tour following the release of Hysterics, their first major release.

Rolo Tomassi’s latest offerings are available on large indie-label Hassle Records following a DIY ethic of self released EPs.

A host of hip magazine front-cover appearances, slots at huge festivals and marathon tours has seen the fan base snowball and The Gander reach capacity for this show.

The Sheffield-based quintet play by their own rules.

They perform math-metal crossed with chunky riffs in a cauldron of screams.

The overall sound belies their youth.

A concoction of experiential blurts from the occasional digital synthesiser mash with an energetic heaviness and structured sequences that combine to form the perfect progressive noise.

For the more casual observer, there are times when the clamour of sounds, roars and the shear magnitude of it all could blur into a heady mess.

But Rolo Tomassi have a knack of reinventing each track several times before it is over. It is with this technique the band bridge styles and appeal to a wider range of scenes.
