An emergency HM Coastguard team in Hampshire sprung to action yesterday after a dog escaped it's owner and fell down a 30 metre cliff face that lines the English Channel.

The Lymington Coastguard Rescue team confirmed on social media they were altered to reports of a dog that had escaped its owner and fallen down the cliffs at Barton-on-Sea in the early hours of the morning on Thursday, November 5.

The rescue team said: "Working alongside our flank team from Southbourne coastguard rescue team, we carried out a coordinated rope rescue.

"One of our rope technicians was lowered down to reach the dog, who was safely secured in our dog rescue bag before both teams worked together to bring the dog back up the cliff and reunite it with its very relieved owner.

"A big thank you to the owner for giving us permission to share this photo of her and her dog following the rescue."

According to reports in March, Southbourne Coastguard also responded after a dog went over the cliffs at Barton-on-sea.

Two technicians descended and reunited the dog with its owner.
