The West Hants Club, in Roslin Road South, Bournemouth has submitted a planning application for alterations, single and two storey extensions to form a new gym, internal reconfiguration of existing first floor gym to form two new studio class spaces, creation of two new padel courts, with associated flood lights, new external patio area, additional cycle store and additional staff parking and cycle storage.
Documents state that the plans “mark a significant investment in the future of the club, and the proposals have been shaped by how the current facilities are being used, changing member needs and feedback from recent member surveys”.

Planning documents show that padel continues to be one of the fastest-growing areas of the club, so two additional doubles courts are being proposed, taking the club to a total of five padel courts, as well as expanding and enhancing the outside areas to provide viewing of the four padel courts near the clubhouse, with increased space for families and friends to sit, relax and spend time together.
The proposed new two-storey gym would increase the current gym space by 70 per cent, creating significantly more room for strength and resistance training, cardio and dedicated stretching. The existing gym space would then be transformed into two larger studios, alongside an expanded, dedicated spin studio, substantially increasing the club’s capacity for classes.
Tennis remains at the heart of The West Hants Club. The proposals would retain 17 tennis courts at the club, including four indoor courts and four covered courts in the winter bubbles, so that the club can continue to provide the best possible facilities for their tennis playing members.
The club are also considering the right mix of high-quality surfaces, giving members greater choice while continuing to support their role as a Regional Player Development Centre and the development of the next generation of players.
These proposals represent an exciting next chapter for The West Hants Club – investing in the facilities their members enjoy today while ensuring the club continues to thrive for generations to come.
The proposal will be under consideration until November 20 under planning application number P/26/04951/FUL
