A workplace safety technology company in Dorset has become majority employee-owned.

SiteZone, based in Ferndown, completed the transition on October 1 through the sale of a controlling stake to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

The move gives employees a direct stake in the future of the business.

Managing director Gary Escott said: "We’ve built a solid team at SiteZone, and everyone genuinely cares about what we’re trying to achieve – keeping people safe and helping to eliminate plant pedestrian collisions on our customers’ sites.

"Everyone in the team has been with us over 3 years and the average length of service is approaching 5 years, so they’ve already put a huge amount into building the business.

"It felt right that they should have a share in what they’ve helped create."

SiteZone will continue to operate as usual, with employees now collectively owning 70 per cent of the company.

Mr Escott will remain a shareholder, alongside non-executive director Gareth, while his business partner Nigel, who co-founded SiteZone, will retire later this year.

The sale was supported by Lloyds Bank, HWB Accountants, and Paris Smith Solicitors.

SiteZone, established in 2011, serves more than 200 sites across the waste and recycling sector, focusing on plant pedestrian safety.
