A MOTORCYCLIST suffered a serious fracture to his arm after a crash on Dorset Way.
The crash happened near the Mannings Heath Roundabout shortly after 6pm on Tuesday, September 8.
Emergency services attended the scene, and closed the road until around 7:30pm.
The rider of the bike, a man from Poole who relies on Dorset Way as his preferred route home, was taken to hospital with a serious arm injury that is not believed to be life-threatening.
He underwent surgery on Wednesday morning, as community concerns continue to surround recent resurfacing works along the route
His father-in-law, Derek Goodchild, has confirmed that the rider had suffered a humerus fracture running from his elbow to his shoulder.
He has recommended taking legal advice to recover out-of-pocket financial expenses not covered by vehicle insurance.
While insurance covers the damaged motorcycle, it does not cover the hundreds of pounds required to replace his protective safety gear and clothing, which had to be cut away by paramedics during treatment.
Eyewitness to the crash Jack described the aftermath as "scary and shocking," saying it was immediately obvious the rider was severely injured when he saw "blood seeping through the rider's bike leathers".
As the driver in front rushed out to call an ambulance, an off-duty Poole A&E nurse ran over to administer aid to the bleeding rider.
Jack praised the immediate community response, recalling "so many kind people," including motorists on the opposite carriageway who wound down windows to offer help.
Jack also criticised the road conditions, saying "the dust coming off the road was awful" as onlookers questioned why the route remained open.
