A 35,000kg Boeing 737 will be pulled down the tarmac by teams of volunteers next week.

The feat of strength is part of the Dorset Plane Pull 2026, a unique charity event taking place at Bournemouth Airport on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31.

Teams of 20 will compete to drag the aircraft 50 metres in the shortest time, all while raising funds for charity.

Richard Griffin, event operations manager, said: "We’re absolutely delighted to be returning for the Dorset Plane Pull in 2026.

"We have 20 amazing beneficiary charities involved this year and have more than 30 eager teams ready to take on the challenge of pulling a 35,000kg Boeing 737.

"It’s fantastic to see the event continue to grow and bring businesses, community groups and individuals together for such a fun and memorable day, while raising vital funds for some incredibly worthwhile causes.

"We can’t wait to see everyone at Bournemouth Airport on Bank Holiday Monday and watch our teams battle it out to pull the plane."

Since its launch in 2009, the Dorset Plane Pull has raised more than £400,000 for charity.

This year’s event will support 20 charities including Autism Unlimited, Dorset Mind, and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
