AN abandoned camp fire was found smouldering inside a cave after smoke was reported to the coastguard.
Emergency services were called to Tilly Whim Caves in Durlston just before 8.30pm on August 23 after smoke was spotted emerging from the area.
Swanage Fire Station and coastguard teams entered the caves and found the remains of a fire which was still smouldering.

A spokesperson for Swanage Fire Station said: "Just before 20:30 this evening we were called by the coastguard, who while dealing with another incident, were alerted to smoke coming out of the caves at Tilly Whim at Durlston.
"Along with some personnel from the Swanage Coastguard Team, we made entrance to the caves where we found an abounded camp fire which was still smouldering. This was extinguished using one water filled back pack.
"As usual, good team work between both services meant a successful outcome and both teams returning to their stations after a couple of hours."
Swanage Coastguard also expressed concern about the dangers of lighting fires in the caves.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard team said: "It is disappointing to see evidence of the caves being used in this way.
"Given the condition and structure of the caves, a fire could pose a serious risk to anyone inside - as well as to rescuers who may have to enter to assist them.
"And despite the recent rain, fires and BBQs are still not permitted - particularly within the cave network at Tilly Whim and the surrounding country park."
