A COLOURFUL river ride with fancy dress and inflatables is set to make a splash this weekend.
Dorset Dinghy Day will return on Saturday, August 8, promising a day of fun and community spirit on the water.
The popular event invites people to float down the river on any inflatable, with previous years seeing everything from dinghies and paddling pools to giant pizza slices.
Launching from Old Bridge Road in Iford from 12pm, organisers have said that participants will be on the river for at least a couple of hours before reaching the Quomps on Christchurch Quay.
With the motto, 'if it floats, it's in', the unusual but much-loved tradition brings hundreds of people together for 'a shared moment of joy, silliness and connection'.
Mermaid, pirate and inflatable costumes are 'strongly encouraged'.
Turning to the weather, temperatures are set to rise tomorrow- sitting at about 23/24 degrees.
Safety is a key focus, with participants reminded to take part at their own risk and to 'respect the river and each other'.
Organisers have added that no parking is available at the start location.
