Bournemouth homeowners 'forced to cut their asking prices'

In Bournemouth, the average reduction over the past 12 months was £13,287, or 3.31 per cent below the original asking price, according to figures from property firm Property Solvers.

The largest discounts were seen in the BH13 postcode, which covers parts of Poole, where 75 sellers dropped their prices by an average of £20,697 (3.99 per cent).

The smallest reductions were recorded in BH16, also in Poole, where 113 sellers accepted an average cut of £9,514 (2.59 per cent).

Ruban Selvanayagam, co-director of Property Solvers, said: "Although market conditions remain challenging, well-priced homes continue to sell across the country.

"Buyers are simply more discerning than they were a few years ago and have become much more conscious of value.

"The gap between asking and achieved prices often reflects sellers testing the market rather than where buyers are actually prepared to transact.

"Looking at genuinely completed sale prices alongside current asking prices provides a far clearer picture of local market conditions."

Property Solvers analysed 3,828 property transactions across the Bournemouth area between August 2025 and August 2026.

The firm’s data tracks the full property sale process, from initial listing through to completion.

Its tool allows users to compare asking prices with final sale prices in their own postcode areas.

This can help both sellers and buyers gain a better understanding of real-time market value.
