Dorset Council has confirmed multiple road closures and traffic restrictions for essential highways works that will affect various roads in Dorset.

The public notices detail plans for temporary traffic management orders affecting Wimborne St Giles, Wimborne Minster, Pimperne and Lytchett Matravers.

Each order has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 to allow works to proceed safely and minimise risks to road users.

The full public notice is available to view at publicnoticeportal.uk/notice/traffic-and-roads/6a5a34cb0a2cca35b64c3ab9?

On the B3081 in Wimborne St Giles, a temporary road closure will be in place from July 24 to August 7 while surface dressing is carried out.

A clearway and parking suspension will also be implemented, with all measures indicated by signs on-site.

In Wimborne Minster, Stone Lane will be closed between Knobcrook Road and West Borough from July 27 to September 4.

This closure will allow Ford Civil Engineering to carry out improvements to the highway and signals at the West Borough junction.

The closure will also see temporary revocation of existing 7.5t weight restrictions on various roads, as indicated by signage, to maintain access.

A local diversion route will be signed.

On Salisbury Road in Pimperne, a temporary 10mph speed restriction will be in force from July 27 to August 10, alongside clearway and parking suspensions, to facilitate surface dressing works.

This is to facilitate the use of a convoy working vehicle.

In Lytchett Matravers, Foxhills Road will be closed for essential highway maintenance between the A35 Dorchester Road and Deans Drove from July 27 to August 10—a distance of approximately 1,900 metres.

As in other locations, a local diversion route will be in place.

All orders will remain in effect for up to 18 months from their start dates to allow for any unforeseen delays, although current schedules indicate that works should be completed within the specified periods.

Motorists are advised that breaching the restrictions or using roads in contravention of the notices may result in a fine of up to £1,000.

Enquiries relating to the specific works and access arrangements can be directed to Dorset Highways on 01305 228100 or, in respect of the works in Wimborne Minster, to Ford Civil Engineering on 07714 451567.

Further information on the orders is available from the Dorset Highways Traffic Team on 01305 221020 and from the Dorset Council website.
