A pre-school has marked 50 years of serving families and shaping young lives in the heart of its community.

St Nicholas Pre-School in Bournemouth celebrated its 50th anniversary at St Nicholas Church with an event filled with memories, laughter, and tributes to the people who have helped shape it.

The celebration brought together children, families, staff, alumni, and Tom Hayes MP, who praised the pre-school’s enduring impact.

Mr Hayes, the Labour MP for Bournemouth East, said: "It was a real privilege to celebrate 50 years of St Nicholas Pre-School.

"This anniversary is a testament to the dedication of generations of staff, volunteers and families whose commitment has made St Nicholas such a cherished part of our community.

"I look forward to seeing it continue to thrive for many years to come."

Guests enjoyed refreshments, a raffle, and a photographic display spanning five decades.

Visitors reconnected with former staff and friends of the pre-school.

Special recognition was given to long-serving staff members, including Lorna Skipworth and Wendy Ormesher.

Miss Gemma, who became the pre-school leader in February, said: "One thing that stood out to me was how many parents spoke about the nurturing environment and family feel that the pre-school offers."

"They told me how much they value the care, support and sense of belonging their children receive here, and that they wouldn’t want that to change.

"That means so much to us, and we are committed to preserving those values as we continue to serve our community for many years to come.”
