A rescue team was called out in Dorset after a person was reported missing.

The Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Team was alerted at 4.34pm on Tuesday, June 30 to help search for the person.

The police had identified Barton cliff top and the waterfront as likely areas to search.

The coastguard teams started their search at the Beachcomber Café in Barton on Sea and continued between Naish and Taddiford Gap.

They worked with Dorset Police and the NPAS45 police helicopter.

During the operation, a swimmer off Becton Bunny became a secondary concern, leading to the Mudeford lifeboat being launched and NPAS45 conducting further checks.

The swimmer was confirmed to be safe and was given advice on beach safety.

The original missing person was found by the police and all Coastguard teams were stood down and returned to station.
