A Reform town councillor has defected to become an independent due to a lack of openness, and respect for differing views.

Cllr Bleeze was elected to the ward with 779 votes in May 2026.

On June 24, Cllr Bleeze announced that he would now be serving as an independent councillor following his resignation from the Reform Group.
Cllr Bleeze said: “I have today taken the difficult decision to resign from the Reform Group and will continue to serve as an independent councillor representing the residents of Hamworthy East on Poole Town Council.
“This decision has not been made lightly. I joined Reform because I believed in the principles of transparency, accountability, and putting local people first. However, over recent months I have become increasingly concerned about the direction of the group and the way decisions are being made.
“In my view, there has been a lack of openness, insufficient respect for differing opinions, and a growing disconnect between the priorities of the leadership and the needs of the communities we were elected to serve. I believe councillors should be free to speak up, challenge decisions, and access the information necessary to make informed judgements on behalf of residents.
“My primary responsibility has always been, and will remain, the people of Hamworthy East. They elected me to be their voice, not to serve the interests of any political faction or individual ambition. After careful consideration, I have concluded that I can best fulfil that responsibility by sitting as an independent councillor.
“I remain committed to working constructively with councillors from all parties where it benefits local residents. I will continue to champion local projects, support sensible investment in our communities, and ensure that the concerns of residents are heard at every opportunity.
“While I am disappointed that matters have reached this point, I believe this is the right decision for both myself and the people I represent.
“My focus now is firmly on the future and on delivering the best possible outcomes for Hamworthy East.”
