BCP Council has announced the closure as part of a temporary traffic regulation.
An alternative route will be provided via Egmont Road, Foreland Road, and back to Egmont Road, and vice versa.
Access for emergency services will be preserved, and property access will depend on site safety.
Residents and motorists are advised these arrangements might change if work overruns or adverse weather conditions occur.
While the intended closure is for a week, note that such restrictions might be activated under the order for up to 18 months and might be extended with the Secretary of State's approval.
