Two Bournemouth volunteers honoured by WithYou charity

Debbie Millward, 63, and Peter Lee-Overy, 34, from Bournemouth, were honoured by the charity WithYou for their efforts in supporting individuals affected by drug and alcohol issues.

The charity, which helps more than 100,000 people across England and Scotland with substance misuse and mental health challenges, presented the pair with volunteer awards for their outstanding contributions.

Ms Millward said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed the last year and it was lovely to be the recipient of an award, very much unexpected and a lovely surprise.

"I’m just happy to help out where I can."

Mr Lee-Overy said: "I was really pleasantly surprised to win the Staff Impact Award.

"I am very grateful for everyone's kind words and for the recognition.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time supporting the homelessness team and I'm pleased my housing knowledge has been a useful support to the staff."

Louise Stewart, director of volunteering at WithYou, praised the pair's contributions.

She said: "This award is a small way of saying thank you for something that means an enormous amount to the clients we work with.

"We're incredibly lucky to have Debbie and Petey."
