A JET ski rider was stranded on the shoreline to Highcliffe Beach near Chewton Bunny.

The incident happened at Highcliffe beach near Chewton Bunny on Saturday, May 2 after a 999 call about a grounded personal watercraft.

HM Coastguard’s Southbourne team was tasked at 2.14pm and found the rider unable to restart the jet ski.

The casualty was checked over and moved into the Coastguard rescue vehicle to warm up while options for safely recovering the craft were considered.

A spokesperson for the Southbourne Coastguard team said: "A plan was then put in place to secure the vessel so it could be recovered later, with further support provided when the casualty’s partner arrived on scene."

The rider later cleared debris from the impeller and restored power.

He was then able to relaunch the jet ski.

Coastguard officers advised him to travel to a nearby safe recovery point, but he chose to return to his original launch site instead.
