This weekend sees the release of a musical biopic about the ‘King of Pop’, a psychological drama film and a children’s animated film, all co-existing with other films in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole cinemas this weekend.

At the Odeon in Bournemouth, the biggest release this week is Michael, a musical biopic centred around the life of Michael Jackson.

Financially backed by the late superstar’s estate and using his original vocals for the film’s musical numbers, the film sees Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, portraying his paternal uncle.

Other releases include Mother Mary, a psychological drama film starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, and Hitpig, a children’s animated film.

These new releases add to existing showings of films such as last week's releases of Lee Cronin’s The Mummy and Akira.

Additionally, the cinema will host re-release screenings of David Fincher’s Fight Club and Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Fight Club will be shown at 7:40pm on Saturday, April 25, while E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be shown at 5:30pm on Sunday, April 26.

At the Vue in Poole, weekend screenings are similar to those at Odeon, including the previously mentioned new releases.

Similar to Odeon, the weekend will also see the cinema host a screening of David Fincher’s acclaimed Fight Club from 1999, widely regarded as a cult classic after its initial reception was polarising upon release.

Starring Brad Pitt, Helena Bonham Carter and Edward Norton, Fight Club will be shown at 6pm on Sunday, April 26.

Meanwhile, at the independent Regent cinema in Christchurch, the weekend will see showings of The Drama, The Magic Faraway Tree and Project Hail Mary.

The Drama, starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, and Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, will be shown at 5pm and 7:30pm respectively on Saturday, April 25.

The Magic Faraway Tree, starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, will be shown at 11am on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, with £5 children’s tickets available for both screenings.

There will also be a singular screening of National Theatre Live: All My Sons, a new production of the classic Arthur Miller play.

Starring Bryan Cranston and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, it will be screened at 2pm on Saturday, April 25.
